Game Jam

My role: Music Composer

My role in the game jam was not very large, most of the other members did much more than I did but my main role was music composer, and I wrote a couple of different songs and different emotions and environments in mind.

The Cave Song

I wanted each song to fit a particular purpose, for example The Cave Song is something I wanted to fit in to situation of exploring a dark cave or somewhere dark and mysterious.

Trailer Idea / Battle Theme

The trailer idea and/ or battle theme was made to energetic and exciting, this song was made to be a mixture of trailer song but was never used for it as the trailer was made to slightly less energetic than my song and was planned to be further developed to a full blown boss battle type of song.

Early in to the year, when we first were given the news about the board game event. I purposed a theme, the purposed theme was cyberpunk/ 1980s retrofuturism/ dystopian, I picked this for my purpose as I believe the setting is very fun and interesting, plus at the time it was discussed that the event itself would be themed so people would be dressed up and a retrofuturism theme would be easy enough to do.

Helped develop story/ game requirements for the game jam.

The last thing I did was sit during some of the early meetings and help come up with ideas for the story and the requirements the players will need to make for their games. I came up with the idea to have a consequence situation for the game, the example I gave at the time was: “Either save the child but the village burns, or let the child die but the village lives.” The idea behind this was to cause distress for the players when playing the table game and make them argue about what should be done.
